Dressing for Djilba

style guide

Perth friends, you may have noticed a change in the weather, even though it's technically still winter. That's because we have entered the Nyoongar season of Djilba where our area enjoys more and more sunny days amongst the rainy ones, and crisp, clear nights. I always feel a lot more energised once Djilba hits, don't you?

So how do we dress for this change in scene? It's not quite warm enough for our sundresses, but we can leave the coats at home. A 3/4 sleeved top or a thin, long-sleeved tee is a winner, that way you can pull out your summery skirts with ease.

I'm a big fan of a light scarf to keep the chill at bay when the wind blows. Nothing too heavy or chunky, but something thin that you can wrap around your neck a few times. Check out the ichiban.yo cotton scarves, which have been hand dyed in Perth.

Or for something extra fun, try these lightweight Louche ones; just choose lobsters or toucans!

Ankle and mid calf boots are your friend. Team a knee length or midi dress with some short boots and you can leave the tights at home. The new Emily & Fin Annie Cowboys Dress is already on high rotation for me: it's 100% cotton so will be great in summer too, but I love the look of it with boots right now!

Cardigans are for every season. Choose something cotton rich that's breathable for the variable weather. The Miranda Murphy Squiggle cardigans are a 100% cotton knit. Nice!
